1. Before installation, the supporting power should be determined, generally driven by a single-cylinder small diesel engine, an electric motor or a small four-wheel tractor. According to the requirements of the product manual, correctly select the power and transmission mode of the matching power.
2. Check whether the diameter of the pulley of the power machine matches the pulley of the hay cutter, and ensure that the speed of the hay cutter meets the regulations.
3. If a small diesel engine is selected as the power, it should be fixed on the concrete ground and be able to adjust the position back and forth to tension the transmission belt.
4. When a small four-wheel tractor is selected as the power, the transmission belt protective cover of the tractor and the two casters at the grass outlet end of the hay cutter should be removed first, so that the central pull rod of the tractor is connected with the pin shaft in the middle of the hay cutter frame, the suspension racks on both sides are hung on the two ground axle shafts, the bolts are installed, and then the hinge of the central pull rod is used to adjust the belt to be tight.
5. If the motor is selected as the power, the universal motor base should be used for adjustment so that the motor shaft is parallel to the shaft of the hay cutter and the axes of the two pulleys are aligned. The steering direction of the main shaft should be consistent with the direction shown by the arrow of the casing. In addition, the control knife of the motor power supply should be set up near the processing site to switch on or off the power supply at any time.
6. The installation of the hay cutter should be stable, the protective cover should be installed, and the grass outlet should be consistent with the natural wind direction. If the machine is not easy to move, it can be realized by moving the grass outlet.

The number of teeth of the small gear on the drive shaft and the large gear on the lower feed roller is selected according to the required length of forage to be guillotine cut. Adjust the gap between the fixed blade and the moving blade according to the different forage to be cut. Generally speaking, the blade gap can be larger when cutting the straw diameter coarse or hard and brittle forage, and the blade gap can be smaller when cutting soft and tough forage. For example, when cutting green corn straw, the blade gap can be greater than 0.3mm, and when cutting straw, the blade gap can be less than or equal to 0.2mm. At the same time, if more long grass is found to be cut during work, the blade gap must be reduced to ensure the quality of the grass. During the work process, the operator's hands must not enter the grass roller to prevent accidents. In the event of forage blockage, the clutch should be separated immediately, the brake should be shut down, and the fault should be eliminated. The forage shall not be mixed with hard objects such as iron and stones, otherwise it is easy to cause safety accidents.
